MEDIATION

“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often the real loser – in fees, and expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker – the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man.”
Abraham Lincoln

WE ENSURE OPEN AND HONEST DIALOGUE AND ENGENDER EMPATHY BETWEEN THOSE INVOLVED

The role of a legally trained mediator in the practice of law has grown tremendously in the last 20 years. Mediation is a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties whereby compromising on specific issues to varying degrees allows the parties to resolve the entirety of the dispute between them. Successful mediation requires a neutral lawyer who understands the process and takes the time to know the people involved with the dispute.

Corridorlaw mediators use various techniques to ensure open and honest dialogue between the parties and engender empathy between those involved in a dispute. Because the firm’s mediators have represented both plaintiffs and defendants throughout their practice, they have insight on the hopes, aspirations and fears of both parties to a dispute. Moreover, possessing insight from life experiences, in addition to legal acumen, provides our mediators credibility in the eyes of those involved in the mediation process. At the end of the day, a successful mediator must not only have skill and training but must have the ability to communicate to all types of individuals concerning every issue they have.
